Windows 7 Pricing and Upgrade Options

We now have word from Microsoft on the pricing and upgrade options for their latest release, Windows 7. With the release date set of October the 22nd this year I’m sure you will all be interested to know how much you need to put aside!

  • Windows 7 Home Premium (Retail): $199.99
  • Windows 7 Professional (Retail): $299.99
  • Windows 7 Ultimate (Retail): $319.99

Upgrade costings are as follows…

  • Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
  • Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade: $199.99
  • Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade: $219.99

Microsoft also plan to offer a pre-order opportunity for those living in US, Japan and Canada starting tomorrow (June 26th) and ending on July the 11th, (5th for Japan and Canada). This will allow people to pre-order Windows 7 at a very nice discount of over 50%, so get in quick!

If you are purchasing a new computer with Windows Vista (Home Premium, Business or Ultimate) from June 26th you will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 for free if your retailer participates in the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. So be sure to check with your retailer before buying your new machine.

Well I am waiting for official launch date as I am not happy with my Vista system and I would be happy to upgrade my OS. I used Windows 7 on my company and I am quite happy with performance of Windows 7.
